Gen Wilkinson Dies at 85 in Prattville Alabama
Gen John Edward Wilkinson Confederate veteran and physician died at his Prattville home after a long illness at age 85. A brigadier general commanding the First Alabama brigade he was active in Confederate veteran circles and joined the Montgomery reunion last year. Since 1880 he practiced medicine and ran a large drugstore. He was born July 31, 1847 near Autaugaville and joined the Confederate army in 1861. Funeral held this afternoon at his residence.
