Officers Charged With Assault and Battery in Warrior Al

In Warrior Alabama local officers led by LP Chief T P Poe and night chief S O Self along with Dan Poe were arrested on assault and battery charges filed by Birmingham residents Mrs. C M McNeill and Mrs. N W Smithson. The trio allegedly stopped a car near Warrior sought a search, found no liquor and then assaulted the occupants injuring a woman. Trial postponed as warrants were served.

First Hog Sale Concluded Here This Thursday

The three initial hog sales in Houston County closed yesterday with 151 hogs sold for 2705 dollars, top price 4.15 a pound, average 212 pounds. W C Faulkner bought the lot, J W Hathorne led the local sale, and officials note fattened corn-fed hogs boosted prices. Cottonwood sale Tuesday moved 60 hogs for 666 dollars sold to W C Faulkner. Ashford sale Wednesday saw 44 farmers dispose of 422 hogs for 6512 dollars sold to Robinson and Reynolds of Donalsonville to Swift and Company. Hogs averaged 191 pounds. County officials announce next sales at Ashford Oct 9 and Dothan Oct 15.

Condition Of Injured Nurses In Serious State

Posse hunting accident leaves man injured after fall

Hugh Swicord fell from a tree while hunting a opossum Wednesday night. He climbed about 29 feet before losing grip and plunging to the ground. He was carried a mile by two companions to their car and brought home, then rushed to a local hospital where he is reported improving.

Aged Grimes Citizen Dies Today at 75

Mrs. Martha Josephine Darby died at her home near Grimes Thursday at five o'clock. She was 75 years old and wife of W A Darby. Funeral services were held at Wiggins Church this afternoon with Rev. O M Murphy officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Surviving are her husband, a sister Mrs. Wanasa Clark of Pinckard, two nephews Dr A R Gissendanser and T J Gissendanner of Dathan, and a niece Miss Winnona Gissendinner of Pinckard.
