German Attache Calls Pearl Harbor Attack Utterly Stupid
In an interview Adm Paul Wenneker, the German naval attache in Tokyo, said the Pearl Harbor strike was a great mistake and that Japan never planned to invade Hawaii. He recalled past actions, including the City of Flint seizure, and warned the attack would fuel U S propaganda. Second Lt Charles B Whiddon, 20, son of Mr and Mrs Beaty Whiddon, Magnolia Ave, has been honorably discharged from the Army after service in Europe earning the Air Medal with oak leaf cluster and two battle stars. He had attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute before enlisting.
