Ex-Sergeant Sets Out To Be Finance Wizard
HAL BOYLE reports on Robert M. Tanney, a former Air Force sergeant aiming to become Wall Street’s youngest independent investor. He plans a door to door campaign selling sound American stocks to working and middle class Americans, focusing on high yield and low priced shares. Tanney emphasizes education for the public and mirrors Livermore’s risk appetite while noting past fortunes and a dramatic rise and fall arc. He has bought as little as 12 cents a share and sold at 350, seeking steady growth in solid operating companies.

The 700‑year‑old lineage once earned vast sums from racing and public offices, but taxation has reduced to a leaner income. A Britain Inland Revenue report shows most earners paid little tax while the landed aristocracy faces rapid decline, with estates sold to meet costs and living standards.
