Alabama senator warns: bonds and tax plan threaten county schools
Senator Hubert Farmer of Dothan argues that a $20,000,000 bond issue and an income tax would ruin Houston and Henry counties. He says a sales tax would hit farmers and homeowners hardest, and that money owed to the counties’ schools could be paid only with new tax measures or state support. He notes budget cuts have already reduced salaries and urges voters to consider the impact ahead of the November 8 election.
