Liverpool buyers show moderate demand as prices climb for American grades. Spot prices: American strict good middling 8.48, good middling 6.13, strict middling 5.93, middling 5.78, strict low middling 5.58, low mid 5.13, strict ordinary 4.58, good ordinary 4.18. Sales 6,000 bales, receipts 2,000, American 900. Futures closed quiet and steady: Oct 5.54, Dec 6.65, Jan 5.72, Mar 5.83, May 5.93, Jul 6.01, Oct 6.08.

Privilege Licenses Paid Slowly By City and County

City and county privilege taxes owed by October 1 are only 79 of 800 payments, announced by city clerk J. P. Scarbrough. Delinquent notices begin November 1 with penalties rising to 10 percent after that date, 15 percent by December 1 and 25 percent of the tax thereafter.

Scarlet Fever Cases Reported In City Health Unit

Three cases of scarlet fever were reported in the city this morning by the county health unit with a safety warning to parents to seek medical care at the first sign of sore throat. Elsie Onsard a 19 year old Wisconsin 4H member from Stoughton and Lyman Davis a 16 year old Nashville area boy were named typical 4H girl and boy for 1930 at the National Dairy Show. Onsard a University of Wisconsin student farms 100 acres and leads her 4H club while Davis from Madison Tennessee farms 180 acres and captains his 4H group and plays guard for a Nashville high school team.
