Negro given five years on assault charge
Henry Clemmons, a Negro, was convicted of assault with intent to murder and sentenced to five years in the state penitentiary by Houston County Circuit Court. Ward, also a Negro, was permanently blinded by a gunshot. Willie C. Carter pleaded guilty to leaving the scene and was fined 200 dollars or 90 days. Other cases included minor charges with various fines and bonds.

Chase for Ethridge Ends After Tragic Wreck
