Marlborough Victory Amid Cavalry Clash and Retreat
In a hard fought battle near a village Marlborough’s forces launched a strong attack but faced heavy French resistance. Cavalry charges faltered under pressure, infantry and artillery clashed, and ultimately the French lines held while Marlborough’s center and right wing fell back. The pursuit cooled as orders redirected riders away from the rout.
