Fire Prevention Week Drive Boosts Dothan Awareness
Number 138 to Dothan from Douglas three months ago. United Telephone vice president Kirk noted prior fire was H N Prather’s garage at 200 Jeff St. Losses during Fire Prevention Week were modest, with $350 in Prather's garage and under $250 elsewhere. City officials, civic groups, churches, merchants, and ten schools collaborated with the Fire Department. Fire drills occurred in all city schools, and Chief Ryan aims to extend the 14 point program next year to keep fire consciousness year round. The Southern States Forestfire Commission reports expected reductions in county losses, citing past fires in farms, public buildings, and woodlands. A Ford for every county family could be funded by past losses. The commission sent forest fire prevention materials to school librarians and plans film showings donated by the U S Forest Service.
