Funeral services for James Ennis who died at his home on Do than route five at 11 last night will be held Sunday at 10 from Beulah church with Dr. M S Stough officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Survived by widow Cora A Ennis and father W E Ennis both of Do than route five. One brother A L Ennis of Do than route five and two sisters Mrs A A Roebuck of near Do than and Mrs J M Roebuck of Dothan. Ennis was a well known farmer who spent most of life in route five and whose family is prominent in the area.

County tax assessor Elton G. Collins reports only 274 licenses filed of 5,000 totals. Licenses due October 1 become delinquent November 14 with a $1.50 citation fee and 15 percent of tax as penalties. Applicants should provide car model, motor number, and last year’s license number to avoid bringing a bill of sale.
Josiah Marvel 64 Democratic national committeeman from Delaware and president of the American Bar Association died of a heart attack at his home near Wilmington. He collapsed shortly after a physician arrived at Hantocoko Greenville. Marvel had been active in state and national Democratic affairs and was defeated for U S senator by Thomas F Bayard at the Democratic state convention on September 16.
In Cardington England today thousands gather in the village and along the road to Bedford to honor and bury the 48 airmen killed in the R101 disaster. The funeral train ferries the remains from London as mourners pay final respects beside the mooring mast and hangar once home to England's pride.
Miss Irene Evans and Miss Helen Cobb both graduate nurses from Dothan and another girl escaped injury yesterday afternoon when their car collided with a truck near a railway crossing just north of Newton. The automobile was badly damaged and the windshield was shattered.

Detained in Detroit after confessing to a string of gun incidents that included the fatal shooting of Sergeant Roy Shamblean while handcuffed. Russell McComis aged 18 and Russell McKiem aged 21, both from Detroit, were identified as suspects after an overnight questioning at a filling station and subsequent capture while fleeing. The pair also admitted to wounding New York officer Peter J. O’Rourke during an Ann Arbor holdup weeks earlier.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kathy leen Sowell 26 of Brewton Alabama will be held Sunday at 11:00 AM at Midland City Methodist Church. Near the end of a long race Laura Ingalls of St. Louis and Robert Buck of West Virginia and other fliers raced east to set a transcontinental night record. Buck arrived in Winslow Arizona at 10 44 a m close to Ingalls who touched down at 10 45 a m.
