The experiment, funded at about 5000 dollars, aims to illuminate a theory connected to a book Ives is writing. Meatless Tuesdays and Eggless Thursdays Policy Debate
The drive aims to spare at least 100 million bushels to boost exports to 570 million by June 30. Agriculture officials declined to be named but say the public may be asked to save for three reasons: aid shortage areas, curb food price rises, and preserve a Wheat reserve for next year. President Truman stressed the measures are vital to saving grain and addressing Europe hunger. Concerns about reduced chicken demand were dismissed by Luckman, who warned against halting the policy. The piece notes the prewar kitchen labor, about five hours daily for the average woman.
