Allan Pinkerton Dies in Hospital

Allan Pinkerton, 54, president of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, died in Presbyterian Hospital New York of complications from gas exposure in World War I. He joined the agency at 20, became president after 1923, served as major in the intelligence corps, worked with General Pershing, and later directed operations from his office. He survived by his mother, a son, and two sisters. burial is planned in Chicago.

George Holgate a liquor trafficker attacked officers with a shotgun when they reentered Nelsons house after a tear bomb was thrown. Chief Lee Sargent survived head wound. Sylacauga Pastor To Preach At Local Church

The Rev. L. W. Dockery, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Sylacauga, will fill the pulpit at the Local First Baptist Church next Sunday. Members who heard him at last Sunday’s home pulpit were impressed. Dockery is coming to Dothan this week highly recommended as a brilliant speaker and keen Bible student, widely known in the state.

French Ignore Treaty Rights of Americans

The judge, citing information before the state department by interested Americans, refused to allow the case to proceed and delivered remarks uncomplimentary to the United States. The situation has deprived many Americans in Paris of property they purchased, while the state department has taken little action. The issue was brought to Under-Secretary Cotton, with no action until Captain Rockwell returned from France to appeal for help.

City tax collector Capps to issue warrants for delinquent street tax

Deputy city tax collector J. 8. Capps is checking who has paid and who has not paid the delinquent street tax. He has orders to proceed immediately with warrants for those who owe tax. Those served will appear in Mayor's court. Penalties range from $5 to $50 fine.

Three Miners Trapped In Coal Mine Fire Near Massillon

Three Dalton Coal night crew men from Mt. Pleasant were trapped when a fire destroyed all buildings at the mine mouth ten miles west of Massillon Ohio. Russell Shanklin Robert Douglas and Harvey Sword were reported missing as water was hauled from a nearby village to fight the blaze with Massillon firemen assisting rescue crews. State mine inspectors were being advised to direct the search.

Cotton crop estimate shows larger production in 1930

Washington reports the Census Bureau says cotton ginned before Oct 1, 1930 reached 6,304,608 running bales, including 194,160 round bales and 3,883 American-Egyptian bales, up from 5,903,265 a year earlier. State totals list Alabama, Georgia, Texas, California, and others with ginnings ranging from tens of thousands to over 2.5 million in Texas.
