Rain did not deter crowds at the Saxon Dry Goods Company Fall opening. Window displays featured yellow autumn motifs, wheat sheaves and satin bows. Hats dresses and gloves were shown by Mina Schaub and Mrs Saxon among others. Baby grand piano and player piano advertised, with Strickland Piano Co. offering prices noted.
On October 6 near here a Fortugal resident and Dr Bernier were killed and three others wounded while a woman and her four children gathered apples on a rented farm. A man’s body was found hours later with a gunshot wound through the breast. Four persons are involved.

Twenty five ex-convicts who served time at Auburn or Sing Sing hosted a dinner in New York to honor Thomas M. Osborne, Sing Sing warden, who briefly lived in Auburn prison to study prison life. Officials from the National Commission on Prisons and Prison Labor attended to witness the ex-offenders’ progress back into industry and society and to express gratitude.
