John Gissendanner six year old son of Dr. T B Gissendanner was struck by a slowly moving car near Howell School while crossing with a crowd of children. He suffered a broken leg and was taken home for rest. Teachers called the accident unavoidable.

Mrs Beverett Dies After Two Week Illness at Brice Hospital

Mrs J S Beverett 72 died suddenly at Brice Hospital after a two week illness following the death of her husband. A native of Dale County she moved to Dothan 29 years ago and was a member of Lafayette Street Methodist Church. Survived by daughters Mrs Charlie Allen Mrs Bernice Parsons and Mrs George Arnold and sons Perry and Alto Beverett. Funeral at 4 pm tomorrow at her daughter Bernice Parsons home with interment in the city cemetery. Pallbearers listed with Fellows and Forrester in charge of arrangements.

Washington October 3 The Federal Trade Commission examined a letter from HK B Chandler publisher of the Mobile Press to W H Hanson of the Birmingham News as part of a probe into lawsuits against Alabama publisher Frederick J Thompson. The letter discussed a campaign by Chandler against the Thompson papers and was read during the resumed hearings on publicity activities of public utilities.

Pike County Exceeds Debt Limit by Noted Amount

Assistant state examiners told Gov. Graves the Pike County court allowed debt beyond the constitutional limit by 134627 and misdirected county business. Graves ordered a thorough audit of Bibb County operations with possible reorganization of departments. Investigation began around the death of tax collector F. C. Suttle and covers probate judge treasurer and commissioners court. Tax accounts audit was underway as Suttle reportedly shot himself.

Panama City Fish Dealer Is Not Drowned

Panama City fish dealer C. J. Bryan, previously reported missing in the storm, is alive and returned home yesterday. Officials of the Atlanta & St Andrews Bay railroad, in contact with Florida authorities, say Bryan and his crew weathered the storm aboard their fishing smack and later repaired and brought the craft to Panama City. It is unclear how many were aboard.

Creditors Meet Announced for Gulf Region Lumber Co

J. 5. Speight referee in bankruptcy has fixed two creditors meetings for Gulf Region Lumber Company on October 1 at 10 AM in the United States courtroom. Creditors will prove debts and elect a trustee. Guardian Trust Company of Cleveland is the largest creditor. A hearing last week aimed to restore equity but was recessed.
