After a recent push by Mr. Slatter of Birmingham for cheaper freight rates to serve Dothan, Messrs L Layfield S A Staplet and C J Faulk travel to Montgomery to meet with freight chiefs James Menzies of the Coast Line and C T Airey of the Central. Secretary Layfield was wired of Slatter's attendance. A favorable conference outcome is anticipated.
Mr. Isaacs Brackin died at his home near Webb yesterday after an illness of some time. He was about seventy years old and was the father of C. L. Brackin.
A large group of Methadists pass through Dothan on route to Geneva for a three day Congregational Methodist Conference beginning today. Delegates travel from Cairo, Pelham and Donalsonville to attend the session.

Two years ago the Dothan High School was established as a separate institution by the City School Board amid doubts. Subsequent events have justified the course, with enrollment rising from 74 in 1906-07 to 86 in 1907-08 3.
Enrollment reaches 130 by October first, up 56 in two years and 45 in one year. The Dothan Daily Eagle and Weekly Eagle influence noted, with editor W. T. Halli and local press praised. The community backs the paper and High School progress, including 41 boarding students and licenses for 21 teachers from last year.
