Dothan firemen battled three fires from noon yesterday to daylight today in separate city areas. One blaze on Headland avenue was a grass fire causing minor damage. A second at 705 North Alice street destroyed a home of Wallace Smith with $1,000 insured for the house and $400 for furniture. A third near Wiregrass Memorial Stadium on Third avenue, owned by Jilt Powell, burned a vacant dwelling leaving only one wall standing and was labeled incendiary.

Pair Held As Bodies Of Five Infants Are Found On Man's Farm
Fred Stavechnea and Mrs Annie Yacub are held on murder charges after police found four boxes containing the bodies of five infants on the Satvechnea farm near Angusville Manitoba. Mrs Yacub says the children were hers and were buried after Stavechnea caused her arrest over a fire accusation. She alleges Stavechnea strangled four infants and she strangled one. The couple’s long friendship ended when the man’s complaint led to the fallout.
