Fragmentary OCR reads as a local page note with unclear subject and names. No coherent event or identifiable entities emerge beyond scattered words about a gate and cotton matters. Unable to determine a clear main action or involved parties from the readable fragments.
National representatives report unclear text with scattered names and places. The readable fragments mention men and regions in a garbled form, providing no clear events, dates, or outcomes for a coherent card.
A historically toned editorial extols Marietta for sound governance and public service. It urges citizens to support officials, pay taxes and bills promptly, follow ordinances, and consider paying tribute through action. The piece suggests endorsing Westbrook Pegler for publicity director if Honey Long seeks the presidency.
A collage of social notices lists residents and guests in Dothan including Lem Wajien on business, J P Hall returning to Littles Town, Mrs Morrta Ford hosting an oyster luncheon for DA Q club, and incorporation papers filed by Strickland Jewelry Co. with J M Strickland and W C Avery. Visitors include Miss Wille Kelly of Headland and Miss Mattie May Porter of Columbus, Misses E C Porter and family hosting house guests, and Mr and Mrs Ea Malone of Pensacola visiting local residents. The page also notes a rock party at the homes of Misses Kelly and Porter, plus visits by Mrs M Steagall and daughter and by Mr and Mrs J RR Fareeth. Life in the era is humorously framed by a jab at the average budget.
A critical piece argues a single powerful magnate runs the Reich behind Mussolini and Hitler, wielding control from mines to factories. It portrays a robber baron-like figure ruling 200,000 workers, with a Europe-wide reach and a top-to-bottom puppetry claim.
The Eagle notes Mr Martin Tohrner, a Franklin dairyman and businessman, spoke Wednesday night in Ashford to about 60 farmers proposing broomcorn as a profitable 80 day crop. He cites yield 500 to 700 pounds per acre and prices of 225 to 275 dollars per ton, with drought resilience but noting market demand and a need for at least 2000 acres locally to attract buyers and sustain shipments.
A fragment from a humorous column cites French Foreign Minister Lavat warning that civilization is deteriorating. The joke about Mr Hoover and a chicken appears alongside other light quips. Local references show a playful, garbledBits style.
A list proposes ten major stories of the year including the arrest of Heupimann, Roosevelt’s presidency, dollar deflation, the King Alexander assassination, Hitler’s purge, Morro Castle disaster, others in Turkey, air race, and notable deaths, reflecting a vivid mix of global events and sensational headlines.
A bustling column surveys New York society figures and cultural happenings. It names Marc Connelly, Ike Brock, Ed Wynn, Elmer Davis, Edwin C Hil, and many entertainers as a parade of personalities. The writeup crescendos with fashion, literature, cartoons, and a playful anecdote about a Pullman bell rope gone wrong as a vivid slice of Manhattan life.
Washington reports a deepening estrangement between the White House and the American Federation of Labor amid auto, steel, and West Coast shipping strike threats. President Roosevelt seeks a middle path, while AF of L leaders demand clear rulings from the National Labor Relations Board and closer coordination with the White House on a proposed labor truce.
In a public health discussion the author argues against overemphasizing heart disease mortality. He notes a 1900 1930 rise in heart disease deaths per 100000 but cautions that broader mortality shifted as infectious diseases were controlled. He cites TB and pneumonia declines and suggests longer life spans shift death causes toward heart disease.
Hollywood review notes Frank Borage directs a military musical centered on Dick Powell as an officer candidate who courts an army officer’s daughter Ruby Keeler. The film blends romance and service life with authentic West Point scenes, light humor from Pat O’Brien, and a musical finale.
A scrambled AP summary covers a blind date bureau founder in Chicago, a Red Cross fundraising note to Knoxville headquarters, a daffy prank in Arkansas involving a jar of cream, a flower themed gambling raid in Philadelphia, and a film preview spree featuring Limehouse and other 1920s titles with cast mentions.
