Detroit November 23 Col C G Vincent co designer of the Liberty airplane motor and now Packard vice president of engineering argues motorists should be limited to about 60 miles per hour. He says high speeds exist but most drivers want smooth safe operation at moderate speeds. He notes cars can reach 69 mph but safety depends on driver and car capability. He supports testing speeds at 100 mph only for development.
Dr. Edgar Young Mullins longtime president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary died at his Louisville home from a stroke suffered November 10. Born June 1860 in Mississippi he led the seminary through a period of growth and helped shape the Baptist World Alliance. He opposed teaching of evolution while defending religious freedom for minorities and urged compliance with civil law while upholding faith.
