Pastor and Wife Die in Auto Crash Fire Near Colquitt

Drake aged over 60 and his wife were burned to death when their car overturned along a straight rural stretch seven miles from Colquitt after attending the South Georgia Methodist conference. The bodies were found trapped under the vehicle and burned for about an hour. An adopted daughter in Jacksonville and a nephew, Rev. E. P. Drake of Bartow, are the only immediate relatives known.

The Piney hotel in Panama City on Beach drive near the bay was burned before noon. The oldest hostelery in the city with 66 rooms and 54 guests, most regular boarders, suffered a loss estimated at more than 5500. Origin of the fire not definite but sparks from furnace flues are suspected. The building was nearly 16 years old and part of the furniture was saved.
