Mrs Adeline Danford dies at her home in Midland City Saturday age 46. Surviving: husband Wm J Danford Midland City, two sons Avon C Danford Midland City route two and Allen Desford Headland route one, daughter Lita Davergh Midland City route two, Lazzie Hicks Midland route two, Sarah Jane Cannon Louisville, Ky, and brother Ely Hicks Midland City route two. Funeral at Midland City Methodist Church 3:30 pm officiated by Revs Jeter Baldwin and A D Zbindsn. Burial Midland City Cemetery. Pallbearers listed.

American minister cites warning of Japanese Manchuria plan

T Johnson, American minister in Peiping, reported to the State Department that a week before the Mukden incident John C Ferguson warned that Japan would take Manchuria within three months. Ferguson, later retired, is a U.S. citizen returning to New York December 2. The note says the incident was a long planned aggressive act by Japan and cites subsequent Chinese north China invasion after Marco Polo Bridge. Also includes wartime ration stamps and a note about the first California oranges shipment in 1877.

98th Division Seeks Dayroom Furnishings

The 98th Division appealed through the USO Travelers Aid Service on South Foster Street for dayroom equipment at Camp Rucker. Needed items include pianos sofas overstuffed chairs writing tables end tables floor lamps table lamps smoking stands pictures curtains book stands ash trays and coat hangers. Donors were urged to call the Travelers Aid at once.
