The State Board of Education agreed to close 10 agricultural secondary schools in Alabama, with Marion's closing immediate. County Car Director B. Wooten announced today about 1 000 delinquent automobile licenses in Houston County. The notices target owners who have failed to pay costs or postages connected with vehicle registrations and associated charges.

Unsuccessful Jail Break Attempt By Dothan Man

Ellis Green, a young Dothan man held on prohibition violation charges, attempted to escape from the city jail last night. He reportedly dug a hole in the cement floor from his cell toward the outside, discovered after tapping noises sounded from the rear of the building.

Southern Baptists appoint three to draft anti Volstead resolution

The Southern Baptist Convention voted unanimously to authorize President Barnes to appoint a committee of three to draft resolutions protesting Congress against any modification of the Volstead act and against re submission of the 18th amendment. Dr. L. Barton Dr. L. Gwaltney and J. L. Dobbs were named to draft the resolution for consideration at a sister session. A reunion of seminary men will be held at the Whitley Hotel at noon Thursday.

Winter dip reaches Dothan with forecasted highs 24 to 28 degrees above zero and a killing frost. It was cloudy and warmer this morning but temperatures fell about ten points by noon. Murder Charge After Headland Car Crash Killings

J Trimnell of Headland Alabama was arrested on a murder charge after a Saturday crash on Headland road that killed H F Rogers who died at Dothan Hospital. Rogers brother J A Rogers and others were injured while Trimnell allegedly fled the scene. Trimnell 27, married with four children denied drinking at the time.

Department Store In Dothan to Close December First

The Jink Department Store on N Wester Street in Dothan will discontinue business the first of next month announced manager Curtin Sullivan. Owned by a Philadelphia wholesale concern, the store has operated here since December 1935 succeeding Saxon Hard Dry Goods on N Foster Street. Sullivan will return to Philadelphia after the closing.
