Ivin, local manager of the Telephone and Telegraph Company, has perfected a new board designed to greatly improve service. It prevents operators from being on the wire at the same time, reducing interruptions and easing distance communication. The board is installed in the city and demonstrated by Alvin for interested patrons.
The court disposed of civil and criminal cases with numerous defendants convicted or fined. Nina McKinney faced carrying concealed pistol. Mrs. KK Lee of 544 East Lafayette Street in Dothan reports long standing kidney and back pain eased after using Doan's Kidney Pills from McCallum's drug store. She says she has had no further kidney trouble since, and publicly recommends the same remedy. Foster Milburn Co. Propr., Buffalo, NY.
Henry Davin and Julian Mixh, two young men, argued over a jam in the streets today. The dispute escalated to a fist fight before both were taken to the police station, held briefly in jail, and released.
City council approved raising A. B. Lowrie’s pay from 25 to 50 a month with a future step to 19 a year pending performance. They also voted annual fire department uniforms and tighter safety rules for elevated stations. Mayor opposed some uniform cost proposals but council backed the plan. Lowrie will oversee removing unsafe electric poles in the white way zone to improve safety.
