New York reports domestic cigarette production for the first nine months of 1925 running more than eight percent ahead of last year and the annual total expected to exceed 100 billion. Costs of leaf tobacco and retail prices concern manufacturers, with leaf prices not yet falling. A one cent drop in leaf tobacco could save about $3 million on 100 million production, given three pounds of leaf per thousand cigarettes.
Highway officials report a shift in 1929 license plate colors toward dark hues with yellow letters on black backgrounds leading preferences. Thirty-nine states plan new color motifs while six states and the District of Columbia reverse backgrounds and lettering. Orange on black ranked second with five states adopting it next year.
Detroit manufacturers report a shift toward curved lines and live colors for next year’s car body models. Changes aren’t radical as standards in construction persist and comfort remains central. Prosperity drives demand for vivid colors, and some conservative makers plan sports models.

Harold R. Adams and N. W. Perkins, commercial fliers at Lyttle Point, set a record for speed in seeding grass lands by covering 1000 acres in just over 100 hours. The project, conceived by Dr Earl G Lowe, used an airplane to seed about 1000 acres in Coos county Oregon, promising large pasture areas along the Pacific coast at reduced cost.
