Washington AP reports President Roosevelt saw one wish denied as Clara Booth Luce, GOP glamour figure, defeated Democratic attorney Margaret Connors in the Fourth Connecticut District race. Connors led early but Luce rallied with cross country campaigning while Roosevelt cautioned against a defeat of a popular candidate. Vice President Wallace campaigned with Luce as the battle over Roosevelt policies and war-running claims intensified.
In North Dakota a three way race has Democrat John Moses in the lead while Representative Hamilton Fish of New York trails in a weak second. The third contender is not identified, and the scene reflects pre war foreign policy debates drawing mockery from figures allied with Clare Boothe Lattee.
In Pea hedlu east of Domburg gun positions remain in the area while isolated parts hold out. Open Isola and the fir Wt area saw continued rocket fire as fighters engaged and destroyed targets.
Reports describe two military buildings affected yesterday as Duntergie Little and Ser sants in France on the ninth. A third and stronger German counterattack was detected in the area, with indications of vetired units and dispersed Allied positions.

RAF Lancasters also attacked Homberg in the Ruhr and a large railway bridge at Goch near Nijmegen. Typhoons damaged Emmendh storage tanks and rails. The Dortmund Ems Canal was reportedly drained again.
General election in Dothan yielded no disturbances at polling places. Police headquarters and the sheriff reported only one arrest unrelated to voting. A New Orleans man was held on assault and battery charges, marring an otherwise clean law enforcement record in the city.
Blakely Ge. Special report says a large peanut plant and warehouse owned by G Maddox suffered heavy fire damage yesterday. Blakely firefighters could not control the flames. outside units, including a Dothan Als department truck, assisted. The wooden building housed a substantial peanut stock and lighted by flames at 1 mm. Official damage estimates were not available.
Geneva Chapter No Five of the Disabled American Veterans announces 1945 membership gains. The Geneva unit enrolled over 100 World War II veterans and Commander John W. Davis collected 17 percent of the national DAV dues. Adjutant J. A. Smith presented the figures.
C H Trawick 70 of Ashford route one died at a local hospital Tuesday night after three weeks illness. He lived in Ashford all his life and belonged to Howard Grove Church. Survived by wife, five daughters, two sons, two sisters, twenty one grandchildren, six great grandchildren. Funeral 4 p m Thursday at Memphis Church with Rev G W Nobles and others officiating. Burial at church cemetery. Active pallbearers listed. honorary pallbearers named. Ward-Wilson Funeral Home in charge.
Retail sellers of women s and children s outerwear in the area must file pricing charts with the OPA district office in Montgomery or face stops on sales after November 15. Dr HA Collins, district director, said enforcement begins after the filing deadline and that letters confirming receipt must be on premises. Retailers were notified in September and may obtain the bulletin from their local War Price and Rationing Boards.
