The Rucker Musical Show makes its premier here at Martin Theatre rated as sweet and hot and features a bevy of Dothan girls. The program was presented Friday night by Camp Rucker with a lively production Augmented by local talent and staged for a sophomore run.
A military entertainment show staged for the Dothan area featured Col Sel Helge Go Ebens leading a cast under the Special Service Office. The program included an ensemble of costumed cooks, a WAAC sketch, and a Brooklyn Dodgers baseball episode, with performances moving to Camp Rucker for other personnel.
Scout officials in Dothan announced a two day Camporee at Wiregrass Memorial Stadium on June 1 and 2 under Tex Banner. A Camp Fire Program begins at 8 p.m. the first day and field events start at 9:30 a.m. the second. The Dothan Camporee is one of five in the Southeast Alabama Council with troop registration meals site inspection and entertainment on day one and field events on day two starting at 5:30.
At Dothan High School production exercises the Exchange Club engraved Hulda Lucas and Gene Ramage on a loving cup. The No One girl and boy will have their names engraved on the roving cup each year. The Kywantsich award honored Alice Davie Caltoun with $25 war bond for twelve years of perfect attendance.
An upcoming program lists events including Scout pace, equipment race, team chariot race, fire making contest and commando ejay starting at 11 am. It highlights a mix of competitive and practical activities for attendees.
