Dusting with Sulphur Helps Peanut Yields In Alabama
The Alabama Experiment Station reports dusting peanuts with copper sulphur dust reduces leaf spot and boosts yields. In Barbour County 1944 results show one farmer yielding about 2020 pounds per acre with leaf preservation, while tenants without leaf retention yielded 10 pounds less per acre. Three applications starting at 60 to 65 days old, at two week intervals, are advised for best control. Buy war bonds.

High Quality Alfalfa Hay Easy To Make
For alfalfa hay quality leaf color and leaf percent are key. Cut between early and full bloom, wilt in the swath, then finish curing in the windrow to keep leaves. Windrow after wilting but before leaves shatter to avoid leaf loss. Hay cured this way stores with higher carotene and protein.
