Senate panel kills self vote pay raise for lawmakers
The Alabama finance committee killed the Arnold bill to raise legislators pay from four to six dollars a day. The measure passed the house after a long floor fight last week and was set to die in the senate, staving off action as leaders maneuver for a new calendar. The day also saw passage of an education funding bill and several uncontested measures as the Senate adjourned briefly and prepared for action next legislative day.
