Indictments Overruled in Alabama Federal Court
In Alabama federal court proceedings, indictments against eight defendants were not quashed as defense motions argued the grand jury and petit jury were improperly drawn. Witnesses testified the venire was drawn properly, and Judge Kennamer overruled the motions. The eight defendants face trial in April on charges related to conspiracy to violate federal funds and loan regulations. In Atlanta, traffic accidents caused eleven deaths across the South weekend, with Louisiana reporting five deaths near Natchitoches, Florida four, North Carolina four, and Alabama one the Warrior river incident.
