Japanese Chinese Battle Rages Near Sungari River
In Harbin Manchuria on May 18 fierce fighting between Japanese forces and Chinese insurgents along the Sungari river caused heavy losses. Eighteen Japanese were killed at Sungpu and Chinese reports claim 50 Chinese fatalities. A 660 rebel force attacked Machuangkou but was routed by Japanese infantry and air units.
