Daylight kidnap ends with $300 ransom in Philadelphia

Dora Gerson, 19, was abducted on a street near her home by four men and released after her father, Nathan Gerson, paid $300. Police say the urban daylight incident was staged for publicity and the girl later described her abductors.

Webb Youth Wins American Legion School Honor Medal

Royal Irish Fusiliers fired on a mob of Muslims looting and burning shops in Bhendy Bazaar. The riots, the worst since they began Saturday, killed 72 and injured more than 800. A wounded Pathan was captured trying to enter a rat occupied by a British sergeant's young wife.

Mrs. Lula Cox claims injuries from a fall on an uneven sidewalk in the 300 block of West Washington street on January 9. Alabama's Infant Aviation Growing

Alabama aviation has grown from infancy to a husky youngster with 61 privately owned airplanes reported by the U. S. Commerce aeronautics bureau. Of these, 28 are licensed. Three enthusiasts own gliders but only one is qualified to pilot. Pilots outnumber planes by more than two to one, with 129 people qualified to fly. 49 hold transport licenses, 74 private licenses, and six have limited qualifications.

Concert to aid unemployed in Dothan June seventh

Tickets are selling rapidly for a June 7 concert at the city auditorium to benefit the unemployed of Dothan. Josephine Haynes Cannon and Arch Cannon, famed musicians, will perform with Beverly Heater of Judson College at the piano. The organizers aim to raise several hundred dollars.
