About 308 Boy Scouts and 43 leaders in the Southeast Alabama Council participated in district camporees last month. Camporee details list multiple towns and troops with patrols, scouts, and leaders, noting seven Negro campers among participants.
Marianna special edition notes J F Sims Sr elected president of the Marianne Lions Club succeeding Roy B Beall. Other officers named include Ed Shelles Jane Gillis Berwin Williams Frank Clipson and Jimmie Valentine with Dr J Y Folsom and Greg Wilson as new directors.
The Dothan library board received a 2700 dollar check from the Dothan Service League for a bookmobile to be purchased after state rating is achieved. A travel film Alabama's Traveling Library will be shown at local demonstrations and community events to promote services. The library board was reorganized, with 26 members from civic groups, and state funds eligibility requirements were explained by Lois Green.
Geneva County 4-H Club members laid plans for Rally Day on May 14 at Geneva High School. Students will parade to the field, board buses to the stadium, enjoy a short program, then partake in field events with prizes. A deed presentation to the Junior College site and related announcements were also noted along with a dress contest and several prize awards for junior and senior girls.
