Man Shot in Texas Identified at Kilby Prison
Montgomery May 6 AP Jacob Sutter, a paroled Alabama convict, was identified by W V Long as the man Houston police shot while attempting to rob a store last week. The suspect gave the name Harry Williams of Montgomery, but fingerprints confirmed his identity. Sutter was sentenced from Montgomery in 1914 to life for murder and paroled May 15, 1921 by Governor B M Difmiller.

Faith healer gets fifty years for killing girl
Linden Texas May 6 AP Paul Oakley a self styled divine healer was convicted of murder in the slaying of Bernice Clayton a three year old cripple and sentenced to 50 years in prison by a jury that deliberated seven hours. Counsel for the convicted man said a motion for a new trial would be filed and an appeal pursued. The defense claimed Oakley was insane when he strangled the child at his urging recovery from infantile paralysis. Oakley said the devil ordered the choking.

One Negro Held On Liquor Charge In County Jail
