Negroes Arrested for Peddling Liquor at Rambo Mill
Sheriff deputies arrested Jessie Phillips and Tom Holmes on payday at Rambo Mill after attempting to sell a gallon of white lightning to black workmen. They were jailed on $300 bond each. The Chevrolet used in the alleged operation was confiscated along with the contraband.

Alabama Baptists raise 411657 for church causes
Alabama Baptists reported total contributions of 411658.90 for church agencies in the year ending April 30, up more than 70,000 from the prior year. Of this, 226326.75 came via the cooperative program and 185332.16 for other causes. The report notes 289880 affiliated members across 2043 churches, with about 670000 of Alabama’s 1544000 church members in the Baptist denomination. Delegates from Alabama and 18 southern states will attend the Memphis meeting May 9 to 12, with 40 Alabama delegates to the Women’s Missionary Union.
