Boll Weevils Warn of Cotton Damage This Summer
In Auburn Alabama on April 28 forty four boll weevils emerged from winter cages to warn farmers that extensive cotton damage is likely this summer. The weevils, survivors of 1,032 released last October by Auburn entomology experts, exceed last year’s count of zero. Professor J M Robinson said the finding signals heavy damage unless weather aids natural control.
