Sentencing Delayed as Appeal Expected in McKay Murder
Jacksonville judge postpones Marion McKay's sentencing for first degree murder with mercy recommendation while he appeals. McKay, a shoe shine worker, was found guilty in the Brinkley killing and did not testify. A statement from McKay at arrest claimed self defense, saying Brinkley died from accidental blows during a struggle. Brinkley, 66, suffered extensive chest injuries. McKay was extradited from Chicago on a fugitive warrant seven months ago.
