High Corn Yield Is Farmers' Aim In 47

Alabama farmers and 4 H Club members will conduct the largest corn crop demonstration in state history with over 3 000 participants, following Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station recommendations. The program uses high fertilizer rates, thick spacing, and hybrid seed, with one farmer and one 4-H member per community participating. Previous demonstrations last year yielded many above 100 bushels per acre, some as low as 40.

Farmers Sell Milk To Lunch Programs In Auburn Alabama

Auburn Alabama school lunch program provides dairy farmers with a market for 32000 gallons of milk and adds 9080 to their income. State PMA Director A W Jones urged farmers to consider lunch programs for new outlets for dairy products. About 20 percent of school lunchrooms lack fresh milk due to local shortages and transportation issues.
