Pepper Seeks Tax Relief for Teachers in Income Bill
Senator Claude Pepper introduced a bill to ease income taxes for school teachers. It would allow teachers to deduct from taxable income any necessary education expenses such as courses to maintain or improve salary status. Pepper called the move fair and noted many workers cannot deduct such costs. He argued the proposal targets teachers amid a broader tax squeeze.
