Sheriff Receives Equipment For Two Radio Cars
Equipment for installing two way radios in two county sheriff cars has been received. A third set is expected today. Radios will operate on the same frequency as the highway patrol station and use patrol transmitting facilities. Installation to be done by highway patrol technicians in Montgomery after FCC permit arrives. Sheriff Walt Cameron noted they mailed in applications and are awaiting the permit. Cost is about $500 per car. He said officers in the cars would not need licenses.
