Lake Success N Y UP The first detailed American proposals for making world atomic control work were drafted for presentation to the United Nations Atomic Energy Commission. The American suggestions address international inspection management of facilities and engineering factors for channeling nuclear energy into beneficial uses. The commission convenes Wednesday for the first time since Dec 30 and moves to a decisive phase.

Three Illinois Women Injured In Highway Crash Near Midland City

Three women from LaUrange Illinois were injured yesterday in an automobile accident on U S Highway 31 near Midland City. Mrs C E Plass suffered a cut leg and bruised hip, Mrs E R Ellington a bruised leg, and Mrs Cathrine Breen a cut above the eye with bruises. They were treated at a Dothan hospital and released. The about one o clock yesterday afternoon the car driven by Mrs Plass ran into a hole, lost control, crossed the road and slammed into a brick building. Vehicle damage estimated at 250 dollars. No charges filed.

Program to raise old age grants to 45 per month

The plan increases old age assistance to an average of 45 dollars monthly. The Alabama State Board of Education approved new textbooks for the next four years. About 25 percent are new across all primary grades, estimated annual cost from $400,000 to $500,000. Gov Folsom renewed his plan to seek free books through ninth grade. A four year contract with W. J. Elmore and Co. of Birmingham was authorized with a 3 percent state rebate and annual renegotiation clause.

Negroes Denied Bond In Collins Slaying

Willie Bofvin and Currie Collins were denied bond after a habeas corpus hearing before Circuit Judge D C Halstead. They face first degree murder charges for the January 29 pastorale killing of Ruby Lee Colling in her Houston and Blackshear store. Buford Collins has bond set at 2500 dollars while T J Harris has not requested bond.

Woman Lived In Carlyle Hotel 90 Years At Flute Inn

Miss Clara Truesdail has inhabited the Flute Inn in Carlyle since 1857 when she was a child of ten. The hotel, built by her father, remains in the family into a third generation. A lobby glass cage holds an old guest register with names such as Horace Greeley and Stephen A. Douglas. Truesdail plans to celebrate her 100th birthday at the hotel.

Lone Armed Bandit Robs Bank in Pembroke Cash Heist

A lone armed bandit robbed Scottish Bank employees in Pembroke, escaping with cash after forcing them toward a side room. The suspect, 5 feet 6 inches, wore tan work clothes and yellow sunglasses, and investigators tied the case to a similar December attempt in Laurinburg. The bank cashier noted the forged Pembroke Lumber Company check used in the robbery.
