Partially Disabled WWII Veterans Offered Army Enlistment

Partially disabled combat wounded World War II veterans whose last Army active service was as commissioned officer, warrant officer, or flight officer may enlist in the Regular Army in the first grade if they apply by March 31. If enlisting after March 31 but within 20 days of release from active service, they also enter in first grade. Former enlisted men will be enlisted in their discharged grade. Naval authorities rejected plans to form an active Naval Reserve unit in Dothan, saying towns must have at least 20 000 population. 1940 census lists Dothan around 17 000. organizers will retry after city limits expansion to exceed the threshold. Enterprise Weevils Ready For Training

Enterprise Ball Weevils, new addition to the eight club Alabama State League, will begin spring training under Manager Ben Catchings. Catchings, a former Brewton Miller, has lined up several candidates for the Weevils first race for the circuit pennant as Enterprise fans express enthusiasm. The ball diamond site has moved from Grubbs Street to a larger location.
