Major Franco and companions found alive near Azores

Madrid reports Major Ramon Franco and three companions rescued after a week missing since departing Cartagena. Salvaged from a damaged plane hundred miles southwest of Santa Maria in the Azores, they were aboard the British aircraft carrier Eagle bound for Gibraltar. Crowds greeted the news with joyous demonstrations. A separate note says Miss Minneapolis was forced down in Langdon, Minnesota, after 150 hours of motor trouble.

City Court Disposes Eight Cases in Regular Session

The mayor disposed of eight cases in the city police court yesterday afternoon. Most defendants were found guilty of gaming and fined. Willie Milcher, a Black man, was sentenced to 104 days at hard labor. Charlie Walls, also Black, was fined $50 for violations of the prohibition law and appealed. Gamesters were warned fines would rise next time.

Last Rites for Rudolph Held from His Home

Funeral services for James Monroe Rudolph former court reporter for this circuit who died yesterday will be conducted from his home this afternoon at 4 oclock. The Rev J F McLeod will officiate assisted by Doctor H C Bass. Interment at City Cemetery Fellows and Forrester in charge with a long list of pallbearers including J N Mullins R O Hill BE O Jones J J Speight and several others.

Third suit filed over Florida wreck involving G M Lewis

The third suit against G M Lewis stemming from a February Florida wreck was filed yesterday. Mrs W L Andress, widow of W L Andress killed in the crash, seeks 20000, bringing total suits to three and total sought to 50000. Plaintiffs allege faulty mechanical condition caused the wreck as men traveled to Miami to witness the Stribling Sharkey fight. the car reportedly ran off a 20 foot embankment on a curve.

County to provide vocational training for the blind

County welfare workers announce steps to place vocational training within reach of every blind person in Houston county. Assistant supervisor Mrs. Mattie Gilbert conducted a county survey finding seven blind residents. Plans aim to give training this summer to youths for specialized farm work and arrange medical aid after a follow up survey.

Stock Farm Planned for Houston County Aims High Grade Cattle

Scab Espy of Dothan and Grady Young of Gordon plan a 2500 acre stock farm in southeast Houston County. The project seeks top grade cattle, with 700 yearling calves purchased and the farm to become the largest stock operation in the area. Hugh G. Gulf Region Lumber Co. Faces Bankruptcy Petition

Gulf Region Lumber Co of Headland is sued by Dale county residents J. E. Covington H. J. Thompson and Mrs. W. M. Stucky who claim unpaid sums totaling 2576.25 for lumber sold. The company denies insolvency and seeks a hearing date from Referee J. J. Speight while reporting liabilities of 900 500 and assets of 1 037 000 amid recent fire losses and plans to reorganize operations.

Alligator on golf course kills two boys in water hazard

In Clearwater Florida on June 29 a 4 year old watched as a large alligator dragged 8 year old John Freddy and 9 year old Norman Gold into a water hazard at a local golf course. Golfers responded to screams and recovered the bodies as the reptile was found in the water. The boys, who were playing with toy boats, were reported to have fought the gator before dying.
