Pistol Packin' Mama B-24 Victory Over Nazi Fighters
The Pistol Packin' Mama, a B24 Liberator, flew a crucial mission to an important German aircraft plant. Despite losing an engine, intense flak, and waves of JU 88 and ME 110 attackers, the crew completed the bomb run and struck the target. The mission tallied 15 downed fighters as sure kills, one waist gunner was killed heroically, and Lt Ebersole and crew continued defending the bomber to the end.
