General Bamford Dies. WWI Hero Remembered in West Virginia

Gen. F. E. Bamford, 60, famed for the Battle of Catigny with American expeditionary forces, died yesterday at Charlestown West Virginia. Gen. John J. Pershing praised Bamford in his war history. Bamford, retired, had lived in West Virginia for a decade and was a Maryland native.

Young Man Drowns During Pool Party Near Waycross

Varnon Odum, 20, member of a swimming party near Waycross Georgia, drowned late Sunday night after being missed by companions leaving the pool. His body was found about 45 minutes later. Friends believe cramps may have caused the tragedy.
