Buying for India and similar sources pushed December to 77 with light weather notes and a quieter Worth Street trading day after heavy activity earlier in the week. Virginia to honor James Monroe with July 4 observance
Virginia will stage the first state tribute to James Monroe, on July 4, centennial of his death, in Charlottesville. The event at the University of Virginia will feature an address on the Monroe Doctrine by William R. Castle Jr. A statue of Monroe by John W. Johns at Ash Lawn will be unveiled later in Virginia Hall of Fame and a bust donated to the state.
