Fish Boom Starts In Republican Race For 1936 Presidency
Washington dispatch notes early 1936 GOP talk centers on Franklin D. Roosevelt as a frontrunner and Hamilton Fish Jr. as a potential rival. Harold Knutson drives Fish’s campaign while various figures including Pat Hurley loom as possible noncontenders. The piece cites Fish’s cautious stance and says the campaign manager promotes Fish’s appeal, with emphasis on party duty versus country call. Marriage licenses listed for George H. Harrison and Vera Mae Williams in Houston County.
