German submarine attacked a Boston area fishing boat in the North Atlantic shattering the vessel. The attack forced most of the crew to abandon ship and the sub left, suspected to think the ship would sink. The crew guided the damaged vessel into port amid uncertain condition.

The Napier Field Gruffies face the South Division nine from Camp Rucker at Dothan Municipal Stadium Friday at 8 pm. Admission is the purchase of War Bonds during the week, with proceeds aiding the Fifth War Loan. Napier Field trails only Marianas Army Air in the standings.
