Deputy Sheriff T. R. Knight reports Paul Nickles, a Black man, jailed on assault and battery after a Friday afternoon fight at the Martin Theatre with fellow Black man R. J. Patterson. Nickles allegedly cut Patterson on the arm. arrest occurred soon after the affray.

Lieutenant Killed In Marianna Crash

Lieutenant Paul C. March of York Pennsylvania was killed in a routine training flight when his airplane crashed at Marianna Army Airfield. He was stationed at Bartow Florida and is survived by his father Jacob T. March of York. A board of officers investigates the accident.

Army Seeks Youths For Flight Training in Dothan

Capt Chauncey B Whitehead of the US Army Air Forces will be in Dothan tomorrow from 1 30 pm and 8 pm on a recruiting mission for aviation cadet training. He will interview prospective applicants and set up a temporary office in the Federal Building, aiming to recruit youths who have just completed high school and have not yet been drafted. The program offers 15 months of training including five months of college, for men ages seventeen to twenty six who pass mental and physical exams, with further visits planned in Wiregrass areas.
