Postman Finds Mail In Blue Bird Nest On Highway

Montgomery dispatch reports unusual mail delivery as W L Harrell on the Birmingham Gadsden highway receives letters from blue birds. Two blue birds reportedly set up in his mailbox, while four youngsters begin fledging. Nearby Frank Holt notes a china berry tree serves as apartment house for a screech owl woodpecker and a sparrow family sharing the limb, with all residents keeping irregular hours.

Monkey to Lead Legion Parade at Tuscaloosa Meet

Tuscaloosa Alabama June 12 The monkey mascot of the Georgia Department American Legion will lead the parade at Alabama's state Legion convention on July 24 to settle a membership contest wager. Edward L Murray Foley Alabama and Scott Candler Georgia competed with Alabama winning by over 3200 members securing the monkey's parade duty to fulfill the bet.

Band to Give Concert Tuesday Night at 8

Beginning tomorrow night the 117th Field Artillery Band under Saxon Poyner will give a concert on the courthouse lawn every Tuesday night until July 1 when the band goes to camp. The concert starts at 8 o clock. The band has 34 members and has been under Poyner for nine of its ten years.
