State rests case in Phillips trial at Geneva today
The state rests its case in Geneva Alabama as Lee Phillips faces trial for the 1923 disappearance and presumed murder of Prof. Claude Avant. Washington June 12 AP The house conferees rejected Norris Norris Norris compromise on Muscle Shoals for the second time this day by a five to three vote after McNary said he would not report failure to the senate. The Tennessee and Texas Republicans opposed while Fisher of Tennessee and Quin of Mississippi Democrats supported. The Senate conferees were Norris McNary Smith unanimous for the Norris plan. Brock of Tennessee voiced heart sick disappointment, saying southern interests would be deprived of benefits if no bill passes this session.
