In a rain interrupted game Troy Tigers defended first place with a 6 2 win over Dothan. Rocky Graziano and Tony Zale watched the weather anxiously as a scheduled 15 round middleweight title bout in Ruppert Stadium faced rain postponements. They weighed 158 1-2 and 158 3-4 pounds, with a potential 160 limit if a second delay occurred, as promoters still hoped for a large gate despite wet conditions.
